It is true that English is a second language taught in most schools throughout the country. However, the learning of English presents several problems. That is why, in daily life, it is difficult, for a foreigner, to find people able to speak English; the reason being that only 28 % of the inhabitants reach the secondary level at school where English is taught as second language. Finally, it is worth noting that Chinese is another language often used in the country.
Business language: Thai and English are both used in the country as commercial languages. Indeed, the common Thai is usually used in shops and in business, but English (with Thai) is frequently used.
